Omschrijving | Essef - Jack Vance's Son of the Tree and The Houses of Iszm (first ed. 1964) are a pair of Ace Double Novels. 'Tree' first saw light of day in 'Thrilling Wonder Stories' in 1951, and 'Iszm' was first published in 'Startling Stories' in 1954. They are both tales of interplanetary skulduggery. In both novels, the action centers around a monopoly held on a kind of alien flora - a giant tree of life in one and living houses in the second. Both stories open with the hero passing through spaceport customs. From there, the hero is quickly entangled in plot and counterplot on an exotic alien world. |
